Devil May Cry Reboot stars scrawny emo Dante; impressive looking action

Despite whatever misgivings you might have about everyone's favorite half-demon badass getting a scenester make-over and a plot reboot, I think it is about damn time.
With the canonical plot making less and less sense, and having to constantly fit new threads in-between existing ones thanks to the horrible DMC2, I think a reboot is just what the series needed.
DMC4 was a little lackluster; becoming
bloated with its old systems and relying on repetition of levels to bolster it's relatively short campaign.

So this new entry simply titled "DmC" seems ready to challenge our expectations. Taking place in "Limbo City" developers seem to be trying to create a world in which the lines of good and evil are blurred. In case a half-devil in a town called limbo didn't explain enough theme to you, the TGS trailer begins with a quote from Hume.

I'm so glad I still have my philosophy beard on.

So what do you think? Necessary or lame pandering to the masses? I'm fucking excited, for one.

  1. this is not the Devil may cry I know and love If they think my favourite game Character of all time is not good enough then to hell with Capcom and to hell with the western audience. I will still buy this game the day it comes out but I will all ways keep the original four as the superior ones. PS, to all that are burning the people that dislike this new DMC and I have seen a lot of it stop there opinion is not hurting anyone

  2. It's tough to defend your stylistic preferences in a world full of fanboys and haters. But honestly as long as the gameplay holds up, I can handle scrawny lame Dante/Tobey Maguire.

  3. I don't mind a reboot but the thing is they said 'Fuck Hideki Kamiya" by neglecting the lore he built with DMC 1 & 3. Dante was born with white hair for example as seen in a cutscene in 1. Discrepancies bother me especially for something that was on-going.

  4. Why did they have to redesign dante, they removed his most recognisible feature... his hair :(

This phony is no dante. that is why i couldn't give a sh!t about this game.

Bayonetta had a better combat system than DMC, but Dante (and Vergil) caused me to like DMC more.

But now that dante is gone....

I'm buying MvC3 for my DMC kick, Dante is in it and he looks awesome to play.

  5. This reminds me of what has happened to the spiderman film series. Some fucking suit must have thought rebooting that would be a real big moneymaker. Then all the fans get fucked over because they will never get to see another film following that storyline.
What was wrong with the other dmc's that capcom had to decide to reboot the franchise?

  6. I really couldn't care less bout the character redesign, if the gameplay is good ill buy it, thats all that matters to me. I mean i really didn't like the old dante but i bought the games cause the gameplay was awesome. I was hoping they would show some gameplay at tgs but its looking unlikely at this point.

  9. good god, complaining about change is stupid. "to hell with capcom"? cry me a river! its not like they're patching all the old games with this new design and your precious dante will be lost forever! did you boycott batman when adam west was replaced with michael keaton? the hulk when lou ferigno was replaced with cgi eric bana?! I love the old dante too, but who knows, maybe the new one is just as cool!

  10. If the game is going to be as shitty as Heveanly Sword, capcom wont get 1 cent from me.

  11. That's the problem with people, they are so used to the same old system and do not want Change.
Change is what makes us even better than before and give us insight what the wrongs and rights we've done in the past.

I'm definitely supporting this new reboot, though the developers Ninja Theory are so blinded by the same concept people use as an excuse which is smoking. If you ask anybody why they are a smoker, they'll tell you "it's because others smoked and they thought it was cool to smoke too".

Ok they are trying to make this new Dante "cool" looking but must they make in smoke? That's the most oldest concept personality in history. Duke Nukem smokes but people don't regard him as badass because he smokes:/

  12. All the crying over the new Dante is fucking retarded. Just butt-hurt weeaboos bitching about a shitty character to begin with.

  14. Well, this game was pretty much the first game to start those generic plots. But honestly, what is there not to love about the classic Mario saving Princess Peach from Bowser story? NOTHING, it is simple and a compelling story. I am sure the story does not deserve a high rank because at the time when the game came out the story was very unfamiliar and probably sounded a bit corny. But today, we all know of our friendly plumber hero, MARIO. crazy games
